Borage seeds

Borage seeds are very dark brown/black seeds that are fairly on the large side for seeds. The borage seeds are up to half a centimetre in size. With these seeds you grow a beautiful plant that is easily recognisable by its brilliant purple buds. Both the flowers and the leaves of the borage can be eaten. The young leaves in particular are the tastiest.

Borage, also known as starflower, is a very nice herb for the (vegetable) garden. The plant grows to a height of 60-90 cm and produces beautiful, blue, star-shaped flowers. Bees and bumblebees love it. The shape of the leaves is reminiscent of those of the cucumber plant and it also tastes a bit like it. It is an easy-to-grow herb, which requires little care.

Borage using at the kitchen or during cooking

Borage has a nice fresh taste. In the Mediterranean region, it is used in salads and summer dishes. Use the leaves fresh, cooked it loses its flavor. The flowers can be used as a dye in, for example, cocktails and vinegar.
