With these organic lovage seeds, you will grow the lovage or Maggie plant used as a flavour enhancer in soups and many other savoury dishes. This herb is perennial and prefers a moist location. Lovage can tolerate some shade. Lovage is a perennial herb.
It grows to a height of over 2 metres.
The lovage plant can be grown for several purposes. Of course, you can use the spicy leaves, but if you let the plant shoot, it produces beautiful flowers that bees and butterflies love.
1 bag of organic lovage seeds contains 300 seeds.
Sowing instructions
Lovage prefers to grow in both sunny and semi-shaded places. The soil must be rich in humus and, above all, permeable. It is best to transplant the plant every eight years.
Because of its height, it is advisable to plant it at the back of the (herb) garden. The best time for sowing is in spring (March-April) in a greenhouse or outside in a sheltered place. Always make sure that the sowing soil remains moist during germination. This can be done by covering it with perforated plastic film or glass until the seeds have germinated, which can take three weeks. Those without a garden can grow lovage in a pot on the patio or balcony. However, make sure the pot is wide enough (about 24 diameter). Although the plant will not grow as tall as in the open ground, the flavour is similar. Lovage can be propagated by either sowing or splitting the plant. The plant suffers little from diseases or insects.
